Warrior Bust
Warrior Bust
10" wide X 10” deep X 13” tall
Materials: Air dry clays, wire, handpainted
This bust has been sculpted by hand using air-dry clays and painted using acrylic paint.
This sculpture is inspired by the controversy surrounding the grave of the Birka, Sweden Viking warrior. The remains were excavated in 1878 and were thought to be the remains of an esteemed warrior. However, in 2017 a DNA study was done on the remains, and they discovered (gasp!) it was a woman, and suddenly everything was brought into question about the status of this individual and whether or not they could be a warrior at all.
This sculpture is an homage to all women throughout history who ARE warriors, regardless of whether their status is recognized or not.
